a short film about you

Dear Heart,
Do you ever find yourself thinking about yourself, but in the future? Imagining the person you are, but in the future? Sometimes it’s easier to sit back and skip all the crap in between now and then. All of the challenges and all of the unknown. It is nearly painful knowing how far the future is from now, especially when others around you are changing inside and out on the daily. Like clockwork, they change like a digital algorithm.
One of the hardest things to annihilate is change. The thought of yourself being an entirely different person than that of who you are right now. It is not the thought of change that scares us, it is the thought of what we had to go through in order to change. There are times in the year where we feel frozen in time. Where the same things are happening over and over again.
We feel a change coming. We have always felt a need to prove ourselves to those around us. As if we weren’t good enough for them to take us seriously enough to understand. It really is as little as a gesture to shut your mouth and listen to what others have to say. Sometimes you can blind your own eyes when you speak only of your thoughts and don't hand over the respect to those around you when they are speaking.
The harsh words we take to heart are only to keep us from evolving into something better. The harsh words are meant to force us away from change. To be frozen in time, where the words can trap us in an inward cage where time is evermore not in our favor. I guess what I am trying to say is that it is okay to change, most just need the courage in order to do so. Shutting out the harsh words allows for us to grow and remodel ourselves into the vision we had of ourselves from the very beginning.
When the film reel spins, and the visuals of your visions come to life through the lens projecting onto the screen, it is up to you what the world sees. It is ok to search for yourself through others, but in the end it's just going to be you: alone with yourself. You can try to weave yourself out of the truth, but your blind eyes will only reflect back onto you. And all you will see is you.
With love,
Corissa
