Dear Heart,
Get that girl gone.
The girl that wished away the things she loved,
The girl that would worry all night long.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that wished she could starve herself,
Starve yourself until you look like her.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that believed she could be something therefore she did nothing.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that compared and dared to be someone so far from her.
If it's not me, maybe they'll want me.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that chased everything good away to bring room for more pain,
Nothing to be gained under a cloud full of rain.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that tried to be small.
Write pretty, sit pretty, slouch so you're not so tall.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that pretended to be her out of fear of not being heard,
They aren't listening she's 5'5 with tight jeans and a hot vibe.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that traveled from closet to closet,
Just to get boys' attention so they could applaud it.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that was too afraid to try,
To not try, doesn't mean you're safe from failure.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that interrupted her own thoughts,
With anxiety that would leave her stomach in knots.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that could write all day about her flaws.
Page by page can be a lot for a small soul,
Needing a heart-restart with a lump of coal.
Get that girl gone.
The girl that said no and not yes,
But also yes and not no,
It's a low blow to be so alone and condone this behavior.
It's 10:45 on a Tuesday night, a girl is so tired because she did something about nothing.
She wants to close her eyes and forget the lies she told herself,
Her closet is cool and and he's a fool to think otherwise.
She's tall and slightly pigeon-toed, but she has blue eyes.
When she was 5'5 as a child, she chose blue as her favorite color.
Her heart and her soul are tied together in a bow,
And her stomach unraveled so the butterflies could fly out.
She eats when she's hungry.
Would you starve something you love?
She feeds her mind with music divine and laughs when something is funny.
In her heart she knew from the start,
If the girl had not gone,
Before too long,
She would fall apart.
With love,
Corissa
